Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B covers services outside the hospital, including:

Mental health

  • Outpatient
  • Inpatient
  • Partial hospitalization

A referral from your doctor is not necessary to use Part B for mental health services. However, it would be helpful to talk to your doctor or other health care provider about why you need certain services in order to better coordinate your care.

How much does Part B cost?

You pay a premium each month for Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance). Most people will pay the standard premium amount of $104.90 each month. Part B deductible is usually $147 per year. Some people automatically get Part B.
